Avril Lavigne

Now married, fashion conscious, and back in the studio, Avril penned this inspirational track that is to be theme song for the movie Eragon. She said on TRL that her new single will be out late January and we should expect her third studio album in April; Get ready for an album completely ridden of the i-hate-you-i-hate-life songs and a bunch of i-love-you-you're-my-world kinds. My favorite kinds.

The Submarines

This is how the creation of LA based The Submarines album Declare A New State! come about:
boy meets girl.
boy and girl play their own music.
boy and girl fall in love and decide to make music together.
boy and girl break up.
boy and girl make same album separately, spilling every feeling and emotion about each other.
boy and girl read each others music and realize they're still in love.
boy and girl get back together, become The Submarines,
and Declare A New State! is the record they wrote for each other.

So, just fall in love with this song:

Basement Jaxx

Although it took me longer than usual to appreciate Basement Jaxx newest release
Crazy Itch Radio, this B-side side off their second single Take Me Back To Your House is all kinds of amazing. It could almost be a Missy Elliot track. So many handclaps you will die, old school rhythms, it's just an insane mix of genres i don't even know where to begin. Hear it for yourself.

Lady Sovereign Ft. Missy Elliot

Remixes can be very very tricky; you either love them or hate them. So, it was to my great pleasure to hear this remixed (more like 'redone') version of Lady Sov's already flawless track. This time Missy gets her little cameo and puts in her two cents while Sovereign's verse is a bit tweaked and re-rapped. All of this makes it bigger and better (Now if only she would go back and re-do the stupid music video). Love it or hate it, it's still an obsession. Word, Sovvy. Word.

Cobra Starship

Earlier on I posted the song by Cobra Starship that was the title theme to Snakes On A Plane. Now, with Cobra Starship releasing the debut album While The City Sleeps, We Rule The Streets, I felt it appropriate to share one of my favorite tracks. Being one of the less loud & out there songs, The Kids Are All Fucked Up is synth driven with a catchy melody (catchy melodies are my thing so I'm loving it). And despite the vulgar title you'll find the song is actually kind of sweet. kind of, I said.
is now available. Buy it!

M.I.A.

After a very unnecessary lack of posts, I'm back back back. And with a good post too! Thanks to the lovely ways of the Internets, M.I.A.'s new track has leaked! It's a different side of her that I'm excited to hear more of. Her voice sounding a little sexy/raspy and whaT!? she's not rapping about politics or guerrillas!? She's turned her obligatory horn into a synthesized hybrid and it's sounding better than ever. Diplo sampled some of her new stuff (including this track) during a DJ set he did a couple weeks ago but the samples were cut out of the downloadable version, so this is a real treat. Love's Maya.

Nelly Furtado

Being my favorite song on her new album, I never would have thought that i would've liked Nelly Furtado's Say It Right done any other way. That's when i heard her perform on an iTunes Session. This live version is raw and spectacular. With a more guitar and real drum driven sound, Nelly pretty much left behind Timbaland's trusty programming and drumkit beats. Vocally, still as amazing and haunting as the original track and musically, a completely refreshing new sound.

Shystie

I love me a black girl who raps a mile a minute and carries a british accent. Therefore, i love Shystie. Often compared to MC cohort Lady Sovereign, Shystie delivers a similar crazy-ass-fast triple-rhyme rap and slick hip hop beats. Although in my opinion, this girl's got a quicker tongue that Sovvy's and her voice a bit easier on the ears. Touring with the likes of Basement Jaxx and being signed to major label Universal, Polydor records, Shystie is on her way to making a name for her self. Bitch is crazy.

Le Sport

Mixing equal parts Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, New Order, some other bands I can't recall at the moment and inspired by the likes of ABBA and Kraftwerk, Swedish eurodance twosome Le Sport are bringing sexy dance rock back. Not that it ever left, of course. Right from it's sharp synth opening I just want to put on a pair of tiny track shorts and dance around. Nice basslines, slick dance beat, this is a keeper. Loves the talking verses throughout the song. This is what great 80's inspired dance pop sounds like. And the rest of the album is equally homo, you love it. Yay Le Sport!

The Killers

After hearing and watching the video to their new single 'When You Were Young', i was like blah, nothing special. Brandon Flowers' voice just sounds a bit too constrained in the song. BUT! (yes, buts are nice), if you just add a little gay it makes the song so much better. The Thin White Duke managed to turn it into a special gem with the remix. While still maintaining it's original guitar driven sound, a nice dance and drum beat fills in where the song lacked. Yay for remixes that are better than the orginal!

Shane Holt

When i come across an amazing unsigned band/artist i tend to make it my personal mission to tell everyone about them. With that, if anyone is in a band and wants me to promote them on my blog i would love it. Just e-mail me at gabriel.lemus@gmail.com.

So Damn Beautiful is a charming little tune by Shane Holt. I said in a previous entry that I wasn't too keen on male singers with guitars but Shane has something special; he has the ability to warm your heart with his lyrics and make you want to fall in love again & again. Plus, he's not so bad to look at. My favorite part of the song is the acoustic piece towards the end. A perfect song for bedtime or on a late drive home, Shane sings with such compassion you feel like he's singing to you. Let's just say he is.

Brazilian Girls

If only Starbucks allowed music to be played with such words as 'pussy' 'marijuana' 'don't stop til I'm cumming' among others. If they did, I'm sure Brazilian Girls would be all over the cafe's airwaves. With heavy, down-tempo bass and shiny synth lines, Brazilian Girls have created a whole new kind of mellow electronica. In my opinion, one of the best chill out bands. Their new album Talk To La Bomb doesn't surpass their self-titled debut but rather gives us more of what they're great at; manipulated beats, Sabina Scubbas sexy, breathy vocals, and the obligatory vulgar word or phrase. Only they get away with having a song titled Sexy Asshole and still maintain credibility and finesse.

Brazilian Girls' sophomore album
Talk To La Bomb will be released

Landon Pigg

I'm not a big fan of male singer/songwriters (John Mayer, James Blunt, etc blahlbah) but Landon Pigg rubs me the right way. Lyrically, he's beyond his twenty-three years but still captivates the feeling of innocence and vulnerability. He's also somewhat of an artist/photographer and has a few things posted on his
website.

Can't let Go is a a helpless fool for love kind of song. He says 'without lifting a finger you're holding me back' with such ease and familiarity that you can relate to the feeling. Which brings me to why I adore this boy so much; his words are highly relatable. Loves the young, naive, arty, singer boys.

Lo-Fi-Fnk

couple things:
-New layout kind of. Still a bit of a work in progress. Bear with me for now.
-If anyone has supersexy photoshop skills I'd love to see youc create a title image for this blog. I have one up currently that i really enjoy but i also wanna see what you can make. let me know if you're able to contribute.

Now, back to the music.

Within the past couple months i have been bombarded with amazing dance, electronica type musics.
Lo-Fi-Fnk are definitely a highlight in my discoveries. Two cuties from Sweden creating electro pop that will make your heart melt. Their synth loops and infectious melodies are to die for. Wake Up is one of the many tracks that i can listen to over and over again. Completely perfect from vocals to basslines, it's just so uppity sounding and will make you want to move around. And with an album called BoyLife, you can't help but love them.

A Kiss Could Be Deadly.

I'm becoming terrible at posting daily with school and everything. I'll try and make some time to post some goodies for you more often than not.

So, I've been meaning to feature this band for quite some time. The problem is i love every song of theirs so I've been hesitant to choose just one. But all decisions must be made. AKCBD is a band from my home Orange County. I know them personally and their personalities are just as amazing as they are musically. Mixing popular rock with just the right amounts of sexy synth, I see great potential for A Kiss Could Be Deadly (plus, i have a soft spot for girl fronted bands)

The Exit is totally listenable and catchy. I find myself singing the chorus a lot and when i play it some one always asks who it is and they love it. Perfect song for driving with your friends, usually drunk. So good.

Paula DeAnda

Just a quick recommendation before i got to bed; I can't stop listening to this track by 16 year old Texan Paula DeAnda. When i first got her album i thought she was going to be just another young girl singer to come and go without anyone noticing, maybe have one good song and the rest is filler. Suprisingly, most of the songs on her album aren't bad at all. They're actually very catchy. This ballad stood out to me amongst many others. It's a rather short song but i'm hooked on it. I'm a sucker for cheeky r&b pop so you might hate this, love this, whatev. I'm loving this poppy music overload these days. Paula's my flavor of the week for sure.

Stefy

I first hear Stefy a while back and could never find any other songs of theirs except for Chelsea. So when i got the John Tucker Must Die Soundtrack i was pleased to find two songs by them. Chelsea was played in the movie but i don't recall the other song.

This song is very easy on the ears. It's just a cute, jumpy song with a retro feel to it. Obviously their music is 80's inspired. Stefy is cute, the guys are regulation hotties, and They have an extremely likeable sound. You'll love it.

Cobra Starship

Duh everyone's heard of the movie Snakes On A Plane. It was super hyped on the internet and apparently did pretty well in theaters as well. I haven't seen it yet but i heard it's sexy.

This is a song off of the SOAP Soundtrack by Cobra Starship's Gabe featuring a few other bands: The Academy Is' Willam Beckett, Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes, and the lovely Maja Ivarsson of The Sounds. All in all, it's a pretty okay song. Kind of your average poppy rock style. I just like it more because of The Sounds cameo. And Samuel L. Jackson's intro. Gets me every time.

Paris Hilton

Everyone knows i love me some Paris Hilton. Whether she's dancing on a table at a Hollywood club or throwing up her skirt so you can catch a glimpse of the cootch, I'm all about Paris. And admit it, deep down inside, girls & boys, you wanna be her, too.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Inevitably, another song of hers has leaked. This time, a full version. I'm pretty sure I've probably heard her whole album by now with all of the snippets being released. I think this is her attempt at hip hop with Fat Joe rapping on it. Not quite there yet but my biased ass loves it anyway. She's pretty much breathing out the words and I wouldn't be surprised if she went all light headed in the studio. But despite the breathetalking in the song it's sexy. Yay for another job well done, Paris (and fellow producers).

Uffie

I'm tired of hearing all of these comparisons to M.I.A. and Lady Sovereign. Uffie does not rap about politics nor does she talk about how tiny she is. I really hope people start talking about her as an individual and not as 'one of those weird girl rappers'. I've been able to get my mitts on a few of her songs and i lovelove each one of them. Just her name makes you want to hug the girl. This bitch is blunt, dirty and brings us one of the most addictive electro pop I've heard in ages. Hailing from Miami, Uff moved to Paris where she met French DJ Feadz and began a music career. I love a white girl who swears like there's no tomorrow.

Long live Uffie.

The Rapture

I went from completely wanting to throw up on these guys to wanting them to them to throw up on me. Their EP showed some potential but after Echoes was released I knew The Rapture had a great thing coming for us. I will always consider them to be an adopted child of the DFA with better vocals.

Their new single is easy on the ears. Nothing too crazy going on in this track. Cutesy funky horns and the obligatory cowbell (their trademark, apparently), I was expecting something a bit more wild as their first single. But, I suppose safe is the way to go. Totally catchy, a little bit dancey, this is a rock back N forth and maybe toss in some shoulder if you want. Sexy.

Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing

After first hearing this song I wasn't impressed, I have to admit. Then I kept humming the melody all day and I knew then that it had some potential. So I played it again and, alas, I'm hooked. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm not sure which is sexier; Jake Shears' himself or his voice. I figure both are pretty even.

This is a pretty feel good song with lots of Jakey falsetto. Loving it. Throw in some synth and sparkle and you've got an addictive new song. I love love how Scissor Sisters push the tacky/corny button with their music. The laser sounds and other cheap effects make me wanna hate them for making me love it even more.

Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin'

I'm very excited for their new album. I think it'll surpass their debut in a great way. I just wanna hear some more Anna Matronic on this one, it's all I ask for.

Nelly Furtado Ft. Chris Martin - All Good Things (Come To An End)

Everybody either loves Nelly Furtado's new album Loose or thinks it's totally pretentious and an earsore. I'm one of many who love love love. I hate when I hear people talking about her as a crossover artist. She always had hip hop elements in her music and remixed with Missy Elliot. She just went in the right direction.

When I heard that Chris Martin was going to be singing on one of Nelly's new tracks I was intrigued. I'm personally not much of a listener of Coldplay but I do think that he has one of the nicest voices in music right now. Unfortunately, due to record label politics the version with Chris was cut from the album and re-recorded with vocals only by Nelly. The label said his voice was too 'rock' (wtf?) for the album.

But with the internet and 'leaking' I was able to get the unreleased version of the song. Nelly Furtado explained that Chris Martin's voice was like a ghost on the track and I understand what she meant now; Other than the conversation at the beginning and end of the song, his voice is almost not even there. It reminds me of a wind, it comes and it goes. I don't think it makes the song any worse or any better really. It just adds a little beauty to the track with a male voice. Sexy manvoice and sexy girlvoice together. loves it.

Justin Timberlake 'SexyBack'

When I first heard the name of Justin's new song I wasn't too sure what it meant. I thought it literally meant that some one had a sexy back. Then I thought, hm, maybe he's talking about asses. Whatev, after hearing the song I realize he means he's bringing sexy back. Oh.

I was very very pleased with this song when I heard it. Although it doesn't sound like Justin really at all, maybe his voice was deepened or some shit, I don't know. Timbaland really has been everywhere these days, he's becoming the Paris Hilton of producers. But he does his job well and this song is going to be a definite hit. Electro beats with clanky clanks (Tim loves his clanks), Justin Timberlake's voice distorted to sound almost like Nina Simone at times. Loves it, though. I doubt the rest of his album will sound this way for some reason.

Justin Timberlake - SexyBack

Unfortunately, Sendspace kept deleting this upload. I think it's a bit too early to upload it seeing as how it's a rather new song. Sorry guys. :[

studio album Future Sex/Love Sounds

Expatriate

Currently with only an EP under their belt, Expatriate has a great deal of potential. Sounding sometimes like Interpol, sometimes like Depeche Mode, most other times completely unique. Most of their songs are under three minutes but you get so lost in them that you hardly notice. I cannot wait until their album is released and then I can touch myself for longer than 15 minutes.

Playing at barely under two minutes, Killer Kat is like a mini orgasm. The 'meow meow's at the end make me go ping and the organ intro is creepy sexy. My favorite song off their Lovers Le Strange EP

Expatriate - Killer Kat

The Spaces between has such an addicting guitar hook. His vocals are the standout in this track. I swear I wish I lost my virginity to their music. Again, creepy keyboard in the background but you will fall in love. There is also a remix of this song on their EP that is equally sexy. This song is for a night drive home. When you think it's over he comes back wailing that he truly loves you. He does.

Lil' Kim

I hope everyone had a sexy and safe little 4th of July. I was busy getting crunk with my mom so I didn't have a chance (or the sobriety) to make a new post.

Anyway, independence Day came a a little early for my girl Lil' Kim. She was supposed to be in federal prison for a year and a day but was released Monday July 3 for good behavior. That's my girl. See? Just blow the right people and you're out for 'good behavior'.

As a little hollaback to my Queen Bee, this is a song off of her Dance Remixes album. I'm not too fond of this little remix compilation. The majority of the songs are an overage seven minutes long. I can't keep my attention. But, like most albums, there has to be some stand out tracks. It comes as no surprise that one of my favorite tracks is remixed by DFA. Loves the little clanky beats. Not the best remix but my girl is out, ya'll!!!

The Pipettes

I prayed for a new favorite band of the month and God answered with The Pipettes. If ever I wanted to be a bad ass bitch it would now. And I'd want to be a Pipette. Splashes of doo wop, riot grrrl, disco(?), and everything else yo ucan think of makes this band 100% amazing. With songs like Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me, One Night Stand, and Sex, The Pipettes are definitely kittens with whips. Hailing from the UK (of course) these three fine ladies not only know how to give you an aurgasm but they're easy on the eyes as well.

So so so hard to choose a track to share so I thought I'd let them introduce themselves:

The Pipettes - We Are The Pipettes

And my favorite song right now, Pull Shapes is all kinds of amazing. Sometimes when I listen to this song I can't stand how much wonderfulness is coming into my ears I want to go into a coma, wake up, and listen to it again.

Brad Walsh

There are people that you wish you could be and then there are people that you wish you knew so you could steal their identity. Ok fine they're kind of the same thing but the second is more scandalous. Brad Walsh is all over the place and I love every bit of it. Writing and producing eccentric tunes, being a boy of Misshapes, editor of JUNK Magazine and much more, this boy does his shit good. He does a whole lot and he does it with panache and charisma. I first started listening to him when i downloaded his podcasts from the JUNK magazine website. Loving his taste in music, I decided look him up a bit more. His ear for music is unique and he doesn't know it yet but he's probably going to have about 2 of my children.

Available is an original song by Brad. I love the production and vocals in this song.

Brad Walsh - Available

And, honestly one of the most impressive covers of any song I've ever heard, this remake of Stacie Q's Two of Hearts is utter brilliance. Many people that have heard this song actually prefer Brad's over the original. I think they're both excellent.

Paris Hilton - New Song 'Turn It Up'

Yay more Paris news. AOL Music released a preview of another song from hew new album. Turn It Up is the kind of song i was expecting from this girl. It has a pretty cheap sound and is not impressive in the least. Maybe it sounds different in the clubs, I don't know. I've had a low-quality version of this song for some time and thought, 'alright maybe this is just a rough version of the song.' But nope, it sounds the same. Two steps back from Stars Are Blind (I'm still in love with that song) .

JoJo - New Single 'Too Little Too Late'

my favorite bobble-headed singer/actress/big head has a new song! And it's actually not bad. I'm not much of a JoJo fan, although I loved Leave (Get Out). I was expecting to hear those infamous "crunk claps" that is invading most of our mainstream pop today.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This saucy little number is vocally impressive (maybe it's the production but whatev). She does get a little Mariah on us towards the end but I can live with that. Stay away from movies and keep on singing, girl.

JoJo - Too Little Too Late
(change hxxp to http)

M.I.A.

As you may or probably may not have noticed, although M.I.A. only has one album out there were many versions of it. Songs were added, removed and switched around. I have the original release but managed to get my mitts on the later added tracks. The updated version contains a new skit (Dash the Curry) and the song URAQT.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This song is an ass shaker. Blaring horns and heavy bass makes this song oh so good. She spills out corny ass pick-up lines (Is your dad a dealer 'cause you're dope to me?) and cocky remarks (Like a ball I'll make you dribble/You win gold medals for when you win me). When I heard this song play at a club for the first time everyone's ass went crazy. I bet yours will, too.

M.I.A. - URAQT

I actually heard a song on the radio recently with the same beat. I'm not sure which song first. I'm pretty sure it was M.I.A.'s but if anyone knows who sings the other version please let me know.

Preview - Peaches 'Impeach My Bush'

This always happens. I've had Peaches new album for a while or so and my favorite song is going to be her first single. Oh well, I'll take it as me having good taste.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Sounding a bit like Appolonia 6, Downtown is a sexy, sultry track. One of the more mellow sounding songs on her third release, Impeach My Bush. Although it's not as in-your-face as the rest, don't think she mellowed out lyrically. Very overtly sexual lyrics and a rock back and forth dancey beat make this track addicting.

And just because this bitch can rock the Hip Hop like nobodys business, I've uploaded this brash and dirty song. PCD ain't got nothin' on this girl. This is one for the clubs. or your bedroom.

Hurts so good i got a soregasm.

Makes me so so very delighted that this album is back to the Peaches basics: Chunky electro beats, the occasional guitar heavy song, and, of course, lyrics that will make you want to scream out loud (as long as your parents aren't around.)

Impeach My Bush will be released July 11th on XL Recordings in the US.

Pop Tarts

There are those songs that you really wish you could hate, usually because the artist is what you call a "sell-out" or over-rated. In this case, talentless and/or washed out. But with high paid producers come great sounding songs whether we like it or not.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Jessica Simpson has gone back, way back. A Public Affair sounds reminiscent to Britney's song Anticipating with hints of Spice Girls (Who Do You Think You Are), Madonna (Everybody), and even some 70's disco. She sure did cover all bases. I guess Jess realized that singing those power ballads were only useful at the Super Bowl and not for selling records. Cute song, not phenomenal, just thought I'd share it before you start hearing it on radio, or not.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Oh, Paris, where do I start with you? Releasing a reggae-esque song as your first single was a curveball, alright. That's so like you. Of course you've heard all of the comparisons to UB40's Kingston Town, but whatever. This song is damn catchy. Perfect summer song, in my opinion. 5 points go to Paris Hilton for the pleasant surprise. Thanks Bitch.

Firefox AK

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Andrea Kellerman is the voice, music,
and everything else behind Firefox AK.
She spent four years in a triphop group called
Anamorphic before fleeing on her own.
Her music is both hot and cold, dancey and mellow.
I find it hard to place musically.
Of course, it's heavily electronic and synth based.
She sings like a litle girl and it's sexy.
You just can't help but like this, it's so damn catchy.

The first song is my favorite off of her album
Madame Madame and is actually the most recent single.
It's dancey and puts me in a great mood, and the drum beat
gets me extra happy, although the lyrics aren't so joyous.

My second choice is a more melodic song.
The chorus does something to me. I can visualize a
really trippy music video to go with it.

Lastly, is her first single off the album.
Again, synth driven like the rest. This song will
get stuck in your head. you love it.

Anyway, enjoy these three goodies.

Maggie Gyllenhaal - I Can't Wait

Yes, Maggie Gyllenhaal (Jake's sister) sings. And pretty well, in my opinion.
After watching Happy Endings i fell in love with the songs.
Especially the ones that Maggie sang during her karaoke scenes.
I immediately looked for the soundtrack and was very pleased to see all of
the songs she sings on it. This is my favorite one. It has a blues-y, mellow sound.
The lyrics are very juvenile and i think it makes the song even more charming.
I also recommend watching the film Happy Endings.

Alias & Tarsier - Dr. C

When i first heard this song i new it was going to
be one that i would isten to over & over again.
alas, i was right.
Rona Rapadas voice is soothing and melodic.
The beat that comes in later in the song
just adds to the amazingness.
This song should be everyone's lullaby.
Close your eyes, listen, and repeat.
